Tropical Pacific Drifting Buoys

FEBRUARY 2020

During February 2020, 251 satellite-tracked surface drifting buoys were reporting from the tropical Pacific. As seen since December 2019, several drifters in the near-equatorial western basin indicated very strong (~50 cm/s) eastward anomalies relative to climatology.
